2026 Great Art for Great Reads—Art Show and Online Auction
Submission Form Instructions
Please read these instructions when completing your Submission Form for Great Art for Great Reads (GAFGR). Some rules have changed from previous years.
Eligibility and Specifications: Artists and fine crafters are invited to submit one or two original works for this show. Given the venue and limited viewing area, we will only accept paintings of 480 square inches or less. We aim to be inclusive but reserve the right to decline work we deem inappropriate for the show. Only works not previously shown in a GAFGR show will be accepted. For two-dimensional art, the work must be ready to hang with appropriate hardware already installed. Wire hangers are preferred. Framed work or paintings with neatly wrapped sides are also preferred.
How to Submit: Please submit the completed submission form by August 1 (see Schedule below). This deadline is firm. Art works will not be accepted without the timely form. The optional minimum price is the online starting bid. Indicate this and the percentage of the net proceeds you wish to donate to the Library on the form. The minimum donation is 35%. “Net proceeds” is the amount remaining after credit card and auction Bidding Owl website fees have been deducted. Based on past years, this is about 6%.
Digital Photos: Submit digital (jpeg) photos of your work, if possible. The lighting at the Library is not the best for photographing work, so your own high-quality digital photos are very helpful. If your work is to be under glass, please photograph prior to framing.
Spread the Word: Please spread the news about the Art Show and Online Auction. This is an important community event and an important fundraiser for the Library and for participating artists and crafters.
Liability Waiver: While the utmost care will be taken in handling artwork, the Waldoboro Public Library does not assume the responsibility for loss or damage of artwork. All risks of loss or damage at the Library or in transit will be borne by the artist.

August 1 Submission Forms due! Send with jpeg photos to [email protected], or mail them (PO Box 768), or drop them off at the Library (958 Main Street). No late forms will be accepted!
Aug 13, 14, 15 Deliver works during Library hours. All art must be ready to hang. Please sign in your work on the sign-in sheet.
Aug 17 - Sept 11 The Art Show is available for viewing at the Waldoboro Public Library.
Aug 28 Reception at the Waldoboro Public Library, 5:00-7:00 pm.
Aug 28 - Sept 11 Bidding Owl is open for bidding. Closes at 10 p.m. on September 11.
Sept 12, 14, 16 Pick-up sold and unsold artwork during Library hours.
