This year, the Library is combining its annual art event with its annual silent auction event to create a new event: Great Art for Great Reads: an online auction of original fine art.
The Library invites artists to submit up to two original works. The art may be previously completed (this is not plein air), but must be original by the artist. (Please no prints nor giclees.) Similar to the former Paint the Town event, artists may provide a reserve price for each piece as well as a percentage donated to the Library (minimum 25%). Percentages will be calculated after fees are paid for credit card charges and bidding website fees. We estimate these should not exceed 6%.
The Library welcomes fine art in a variety of media, including but not limited to:
oil, watercolor, collage, etching, block print, photography, metalwork, sculpture, woodwork, and fiber.
The deadline for submission is August 19. Earlier submissions, starting August 5, are encouraged. Works will be on display in the Library from August 20 through the end of the auction on September 16 in addition to online auction images.
The submission form is here. If you have any questions or need more information, please send an email to greatartwpl@gmail.com.
The art auction will be held from September 2 to 16 on BiddingOwl.com.
A Facebook page has been created for communicating "all things Great Art for Great Reads." Please go here and "like"!
