Waldoboro Public Library to launch Poet's Corner in September
The Waldoboro Public Library launches its new Poet's Corner this September, opening the door to a month of readings, new programs, and literary gatherings that reflect the remarkable growth of Midcoast Maine's poetry community into the organized Midcoast Poetry Journal
The Journal partners with libraries, schools, bookstores, community organizations, and cultural institutions across the Midcoast to create opportunities for both established and emerging poets, strengthening connections through the shared power of literature.
The centerpiece of the month of poetry events will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, when the Waldoboro Public Library celebrates the grand opening of its new Poet's Corner with a community launch party. Selected poets from the Journal will present featured readings before a brief community open mic, welcoming both seasoned writers and those sharing their poetry publicly for the very first time.
This partnership of the Library and the Journal continues on Thursday, September 17, with the launch of Poets & Poetry, a new monthly series led by poet Len Germinara.
The intent of both the Poet's Corner and Poets and Poetry is to provide a welcome gathering place where readers, writers, and lovers of poetry, can meet, discover new voices, enjoy readings, have thoughtful conversation, and celebrate the written word together.
The Midcoast Poetry Journal's other events in September are on September 7 at Pascal Hall in Rockport, and Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, in Russell's Poetry Grove at the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity.
