​The Book Group meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 2:00 to 3:00 at the library. New members are always welcome!  Upcoming conversations will be about:

October 21: The Master Butchers Singing Club is a 2003 historical fiction novel by Louise Erdrich, set in Argus, North Dakota. It follows German immigrant Fidelis Waldvogel, a WWI veteran who becomes a butcher and forms a singing club, and his family, as they navigate life in America.

November 18: The Blue Flower by Penelope Fitzgerald (1995) is a magical book; funny, sad, and deeply moving. It won the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction in 1997. The novel is based on the life of Friedrich von Hardenberg (1772-1801) before he became famous under the name Novalis.

December 16: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a novella first published in 1843. It recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.

January 20: Dictionary of Lost Words is the debut novel by Australian writer Pip Williams (2020). A young woman collects discarded words relating to women's experiences to create her own dictionary, challenging the male-dominated narrative of language.

February 17: The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography is a 2000 reflexive memoir by legendary actor Sidney Poitier where he explores his life, values, and personal evolution as a man, father, husband, and pioneering artist.
