Spring Writing Workshop
Writing From Life
In this writing workshop series, we'll be exploring all types of writing genres including memoir, fiction, poetry, nature writing, and creative nonfiction. If you've ever wanted to write down your personal stories, poems, or essays but didn't know where to start, this workshop series is for you. Please join us. It's a lot of fun. And great medicine for cabin fever.
WHAT: A five-session workshop to encourage and support participants in their writing practice. All levels (from novice to expert) are welcome.
We encourage writers to read their work during workshop time, although this is not mandatory. We don't do a lot of critiquing , but we do offer encouragement (and a few suggestions to those who want them). During workshop time, we may also have an opportunity to read and discuss examples from well-known writers. We will generally do a bit of writing in class as well.
WHEN: Mondays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Five sessions: March 11, March 25, April 8, April 22, and May 6.
WHERE: Waldoboro Public Library
HOW: To register, stop in, call the library at (207) 832-4484,or email to [email protected].
COST: FREE! But it is necessary to register. Limited to 10 participants.
FACILITATOR: Nancy Hayden is a writer, educator, ecologist, and artist. She is also a WWI and early 20th century history buff. She is particularly interested in encouraging community members to share their experiences and stories through writing.
Nancy has an MFA in creative writing from the Stonecoast Writing Program (University of Southern Maine) and has published fiction and nonfiction in anthologies and magazines. She and her husband are coauthors of Farming on the Wild Side: The Evolution of a Regenerative Organic Farm and Nursery (Chelsea Green Publishing), a book about growing fruit, enhancing biodiversity, and increasing resilience on their farm in northern Vermont. Nancy currently resides in Waldoboro.
